CROMFORD Meadows moved up to fourth in the table in Division 6N of the Derbyshire County League on Saturday after a 36-run win over visitors Alfreton.

The match turned out to be a low-scoring affair with ball dominating bat throughout. The game also proved something of a personal triumph for Cromford’s Jimmy Redfearn who made a decisive all-round contribution.

Batting first, Cromford Meadows made what seemed a low total of 123 all out with Redfearn’s 52 being the main contribution.

But what appeared an inadequate total proved too much for Alfreton as they were dismissed for just 87, with Redfearn taking 5-26 and James Robinson 3-15.

This weekend, the firsts are away to Sandiacre Town and the seconds entertain Kirk Langley.
