LOCAL youngsters showed their sporty side when they rounded off their school year by competing in an inter-schools tournament.
Representatives of eight Derbyshire Dales schools attended the District Sports event, which this year was hosted by Bishop Pursglove School at Tideswell.
All of the children, ranging from 7-11, represented their school with great enthusiasm, despite the odd torrential downpour.
With events including sprinting, skipping and the sack race, the competition was strong and it was a close run event.
But eventually, the crown was awarded to the children from Bakewell Methodist Junior School, coming out on top for the second year running, with Great Longstone a close second and the hosts Tideswell third.
