Round six of the SRAM Notts and Derbyshire Cyclocross League took place at Alfreton Park last weekend.
Despite recent rainfall the course remained relatively mud free and made the most of the sloping gradient of the park, including the rooty woodland areas.
Matlock CC took the honours in the U9 boys race with Ben Mellor again taking victory, Oscar Atkinson sixth and Tom Woolf eighth, while the U12s race saw a fine ride from Matlock CC’s Libby Smith who led the race outright until the final lap when she was overtaken by the boys behind her, Libby finishing in fourth but first girl by a clear margin.
Matlock CC riders were in the middle of the action again with Harry Large eighth and Josh Pine 11th in the boys and Elizabeth Webster fourth girl.
The U14 girls race was won by Matlock CC’s Amelie Wayte, while April Tacey won the girls’ U16 race.
Matlock CC’s John Webster came home fourth in the U16 boys race, while Nick Edwards was sixth in the U14 encounter.
The senior men’s race saw former Matlock rider Lee Shunburne, now of Fossa Raceing, make his return from injury with a fifth-placed ride.
In the women’s race, despite a couple of crashes Zepnat’s Marianne Heffron finished third veteran and Matlock CC rider Louise Wainright was sixth.
Sunday saw the second round of the Cyclocross National Trophy held in Southampton with a number of local riders making the long journey to take part.
Matlock CC U14 girl Amelie Wayte was sixth, Zepnat’s Marianne Heffron was ninth in the veteran ladies and continuing his successful comeback, Tim Gould (Zepnat RT) finished third in the V50 race.
