Cold snap is a boon for anglers

The weather has been colder but much more favourable for anglers at Carsington Fishery in the last week.

Over the weekend and at the start of this week, many anglers have been catching six fish and more.

The rod average for last week was 3.43 with 79 fish caught by 23 anglers.

The heaviest rainbow was over 3lb 5oz and the heaviest brown was 2lbs 12oz, both caught by Mr P Harding

The tops spots have been Stone and Sailing Club island, Tower Bank and by Half Moon Field. Fish Tail Creek has also fished well, especially in the windy conditions where shelter has been found.

Intermediate and slow sinking lines are generally working the best.

The flies are still mainly the usual popular lures for this point in the season – Cats Whisker, Hot Head Damsels, Montanna, orange blobs, Olive Zonker and black and green lures.

Please note that Carsington is a boat fishing water only. It is advisable that boat bookings are made in advance to avoid disappointment. Discounts are available for bookings of five or more boats.

Bookings are taken by telephone on 01629 540478 or via email at flyfishing@carsingtonwater.com
