Matlock 2nds 3
Matlock returned to action after the ‘snow’ break taking on Ashby at home.
The girls started slowly but were awarded numerous penalty corners, and after a few attempts Rachel Moor scored a good goal from a well worked routine.
As soon as the first-half was over and the harsh words from coach Jon Barry had kicked in, Matlock started to play with more vigour and cohesion, stringing passes together and generally looking more purposeful.
This resulted in a second goal scored by Sarah Joyce, without whom Matlock would struggle to score regularly.
Ashby had a few breaks but the strong midfield and defence held firm, before Moor finished Matlock’s scoring with a straight strike from a penalty corner.
Matlock have some tough games ahead starting this coming weekend with a double header versus Ashbourne away on Saturday and Derby Asterdale at home Sunday.
