DARLEY Dale 1sts rounded off their season in Division 4N of the Derbyshire County League by getting the better of their game against Ilkeston Rutland on Saturday, only to see the weather cause an abandonment, and then beat Alfreton on Sunday by six wickets.
The first game saw Darley make a decent total of 203-8.
Among the runs were the likes of Jacob Hartley (63) and Jack Stone (35).
Paul Carson then applied the pressure with the ball, recording fine figures of 5-28 as he played a major part in reducing Ilkeston to 101-7 before the bad weather led to the game being abandoned.
Darley took 14 points from the encounter.
On Sunday, they dismissed Alfreton for just 102, with Dougie Briggs (3-30) among those taking wickets. The total was knocked off inside 33 overs to mean a positive end to the season for the 1sts, who claimed sixth spot thanks to this tenth win of the campaign.
As for the seconds, they dismissed Butterley United for just 78 on Saturday in Division 7N, thanks to a devastating burst of 6-34 from Neil Fennah. They then claimed a five-wicket win, reaching 79 in the 30th over.
They made it back-to-back wins by dismissing Belper Meadows on Sunday for 58, Jonathan Heath doing the damage with 6-25. Victory was achieved at a canter by nine wickets in only the ninth over, to take sixth place in the table.
