Duo win a closely-fought bowls final

Matlock Golf Club recently hostsed the first Open Invitation Bowls Competition.

Sixteen bowlers paired up with guests from several different clubs to enjoy a full day of competition.

The winners of the Silver Jack Trophy were Carol Ashton and Mike Seston, beating Dorothy Gilbert and Harold Shepherd in a closely fought final.

The Club Pairs Cup was won by Wendy Knowles and Roger Hardy with The President’s Trophy going to Tony Willacy.

Chris Reeve won the Ladies Singles and Maureen Flint and Miles Ellis won the Thornton’s Pavillion Trophy.

The remaining competition of the year is the Kenneth Hall Memorial Trophy to be played on September 11.

Plans are now in place for the indoor winter season, with new members always welcome.
