With Rowsley ’86 taking a break from Premier Division action at the weekend, Scott Spencer netted the only goal of the game as visitors Cromford triumphed over Little Eaton in a feisty encounter at St Peters Park.
Ambergate moved to within a point of Division One pace-setters Rowsley ’86 Reserves after springing a surprise 3-2 defeat on the leaders.
Ryan Walters, Richard Briggs and Chris Tipton were on target for Ambergate, with Ben Harrison and Anthony Porter netting for Rowsley.
In Division Two, Jack Goodband continued his recent run of goalscoring form for Melbourne Dynamo Reserves as they won 5-1 at home to their Wirksworth Town counterparts, hitting a brace in the victory with Tom Colclough (2) and Ben Stanley scoring Dynamo’s other goals.
Martin Dance scored Wirksworth’s consolation.
Matlock Town CFA dumped Bargate Rovers out of the Midlands Regional Alliance Junior Cup, the 1-0 win belying the one-division gap between the two sides.
In a bruising encounter, Bargate put early pressure on Matlock who dealt with the barrage well, Jamie Smith using his prowess to clear the lines.
Goalkeeper Sam Duffin made three fine first-half saves to keep Bargate out, before the second-half saw the tide turn.
Matlock began to dominate and their reward came midway through when Isaac Evans, captain for the day, seized on an error to beat the keeper.
Jordan Evans and debutant Logan Wooliscroft had late chances to make it 2-0, but one was enough to see Matlock progress.
Wirkworth Town’s Derbyshire Divisional Cup North tie went to extra-time before they eventually made it past Furness Vale.
Player-manager Carl Moore grabbed a brace for Wirksworth, with Ryan Smith and Rob Inckle also getting on the scoresheet.
