Rowsley 86 3
Rowsley 86’s penultimate early season midweek fixture saw them take on newly-promoted Allestree at the Recreation Ground.
Rowsley began the game brightly, pressing the ball all over the pitch. This pressure gave Rowsley early chances for Anthony Porter, Andy Roome and man of the match Andrew Boyack and it was Boyack’s superb far post cross that helped break the deadlock, Roome being the beneficiary, tapping in at the far post.
Rowsley’s lead was doubled midway through the second half after Roome’s delightful cross was met by Aaron O’Neil at the far post to rise above the Allestree defence.
Allestree were gifted a goal after Matt Smith misjudged a corner allowing the Allestree midfielder to tap in from two yards.
Into the second half and Rowsley continued to dominate possession and were rewarded with a third following Daniel Widdowson’s surge and cross from midfield allowed Boyack to head in Rowsley’s third at the far post.
A good performance by Rowsley could and should have been more emphatic, with chances from O’Neil, Rhodes, Porter and Travis squandered throughout the 90 minutes but ultimately the visitors were sent back down the A6 empty-handed.
