THERE was only major shock for Midlands Regional Alliance teams in the second round of the junior cup as Little Eaton Reserves beat Bargate Rovers 2-0 although it could be argued that Ambergate’s 2-1 win at Woolley Moor United went against the form book.
Allestree beat Holbrook St Michael’s Reserves 4-1, Derby Singh Brothers won 4-0 over Derbyshire Amateurs, Mackworth St Francis beat Pastures 2-1 and Tibshelf shaded Findern 2-1.
In the Premier Division, Allenton United continue to lead the way but Rowsley 86, 5-1 winners over Newmount, and Cromford, 6-3 victors against Swanwick Pentrich Road, are heading the chasing pack.
Both Ashover and Matlock Sports continue to find wins hard to come by.
Ashover lost 3-1 to Wirksworth Town on this occasion with Matlock Sports going down 5-2 to Derby Rolls-Royce Leisure.
In Division One, Ripley Town gave their new manager something to celebrate as they beat Rowsley 86 Reserves 1-0 while Mickleover RBL Reserves played out a goalless draw with Punjab United.
In Division Two, Wirksworth Ivanhoe helped their cause with a 1-1 draw at Chellaston Reserves.
Wirksworth Town Reserves grabbed their third win of the season, beating Hilton Harriers 3-0.
This weekend, in the Premier Division, the matches include: Ashover FC v Chellaston FC, Cromford FC v Wirksworth Town, Matlock Sports v Holbrook St Michael’s and Melbourne Dynamo v Rowsley 86 FC.
In Division Two, Wirksworth Town Reserves play Pastures FC Reserves.
In the Derbyshire County Football Association Junior Cup (North) First Round, Rowsley 86 FC Reserves v Wirksworth Ivanhoe.
In the southern section of the same competition, Allenton United Reserves play Ambergate FC.
