most of the teams currently battling it out in the Matlock and District Football League took a break from their league endeavours on Saturday while they played in the second round of the Derbyshire County FA Junior Cup (North).
As ever, wherever you find Matlock and District League teams in action, you will find entertainment and goals.
Saturday proved no exception, although the end results were mixed for our teams.
Among the games played, Darley Dale Lions triumphed, after extra time, to beat hosts Bakewell Town Reserves 4-2 while Black Hippo lost by the same scoreline to Railway FC.
Hurst Farm United had a real humdinger of a contest at Chinley, eventually going down 9-6 after extra time and Laburnum Saints beat Coteheath 4-1.
In a real local derby, Wirksworth Town lost 3-1 to Wirksworth Albion, Hopflower beat Shirland MW 3-2, AFC Lea Holloway lost 3-0 at home to Clowne Wanderers and AFC South Wingfield were beaten 3-1 at home by Dronfield Town. All Inn lost 5-3 at Miners Arms and Wirksworth Ivanhoe earned a 5-3 win against Shirebrook Rangers.
Back to Matlock and District Football League action, there were two fixtures played, with Hilcote United suffering an 8-1 home defeat at the hands of Chesterfield Town FC in League One while, in League Two, Matlock Sports earned a 2-0 win at Chesterfield Town Reserves.
