Cup holders stick eight past Foresters

CHESTERFIELD Town’s defence of the Cavendish Cup started with an away trip to Foresters FC, in a game that was easily won by the current champions 8-0. Chesterfield’s scorers being Spencer (4), Woolven (2), Atkin and Mitchell.

Boythorpe FC got their cup run up and running with a very hard fought 1-0 win against Wirksworth Albion FC, Lyam Whittiker scoring the only goal.

Division Two side C.C.S Barley Mow FC lost at home in their first taste of cup action against Division One side Shirebrook Rangers FC 4-3. AFC South Wingfield from Division Two did battle with Riddings Rovers FC from Division One in their cup game with a thrilling 5-2 away victory. Wingfield’s manager Rob Else can now go into the third round draw knowing his side can go all the way to the final after brushing aside one of the best sides in Division One.

The final fixture to survive the weather saw Darley Dale Red Star FC face Laburnum Saints FC. Laburnum with a good 3-1 away win.
