Manor Pharmacy Shield action saw victories for Laburnum Saints, Riddings Rovers, Tibshelf and Wirksworth Albion at the weekend as teams continued their hunt for silverware.

Holders Hilcote United suffered at the hands of Wirksworth Albion who earned a fine 6-4 home victory over the league’s leading team.

It was quite a performance from Albion, led by man-of-the-match Lee Vinall, as their goals came from Pinky Ward, Craig Wheeldon (two), Alex Howard (two) and Tommy ‘Timber’ Naylor. Hilcote were toppled despite goals from Daniel Ryan, Eddie Crump, Daniel Noakes and Mark Butler.

There was more home woe for Woodthorpe Rovers as player/manager Mark Turner’s confident Riddings Rovers eased to a 3-0 away victory.

Laburnum Saints were a knockout with Andy Cliton, Pete Denton and Matt Warren on the scoresheet in their 3-1 home victory over Darley Dale Lions. Lions’ Martin French netted.

Tibshelf had goals from Josh Burrow, Tom Hewit and Alex Sturman, in a 3-1 victory over Tansley, whose Chris Toplis struck for the visitors.

League action saw Matlock Town Youth dominate 3-1 against AFC Lea Holloway. Pacy Callum Lytham was hard to handle as he bagged a brace, but could have scored several more. Keith Taylor added an own goal, while Gaz Lewin struck a consolation.

Black Hippo chalked up their third win of the season in a 3-2 away triumphant over bottom club Harvey’s Bar.

This Saturday in the Cavendish Cup, there is Tibshelf v The Kings Arms and Darley Dale v Tansley, while in the league, there’s AFC Lea Holloway v Hilcote, Wirksworth v Harvey’s Bar, Riddings v Shirland, Black Hippo v Woodthorpe, Matlock Town v Laburnum.
