Lester hits three in Rowsley cup victory

BILLY Lester notched a hat-trick on Saturday as Rowsley 86 Reserves booked a place in the next round of the Junior Cup with a 4-2 over Ambergate.

Adie Travis was also on target in the third round encounter.

In Midlands Regional Alliance Premier Division action, Allenton Town gained what, in the long run, could be an important win as they beat Wirksworth Town 3-0 with two goals coming from Nathan Sandar and one from Tom Niewiarowski.

Josh Timmis, Steve Pardey and Anthony Hadfield were the Matlock Sports scorers in the side’s 3-3 draw with Chellaston.

Meanwhile, Rowsley 86 beat hosts Holbrook St Michael’s 2-0.

In Division One, Derbyshire Amateurs earned a 1-1 draw with Findern while, in Division Two, Wirksworth Ivanhoe beat Roe Farm 2-0 and Wirksworth Town Reserves got the better of Bargate Rovers Reserves 4-2. The Wirksworth goals came from Ed Bowler, an Aaron Taylor penalty, Chris Henson and Jake Howard.

This weekend’s fixtures are: Premier Division – Cromford v Newmount, Matlock Sports v Sandiacre Town, Melbourne Dynamo v Ashover, Rowsley 86 v Swanwick Pentrich Road, Wilington v Wirksworth Town.
