Cold weather forces postponement of county cup fixtures

FREEZING temperatures have forced the postponement of tonight’s (Tuesday) Derbyshire Senior Cup fixtures involving High Peak teams.

New Mills AFC’s game at Borrowash Victoria and Glossop North End’s tie against Mickleover Royals were postponed at lunchtime after failing pitch inspections, with both fixtures rescheduled for next Tuesday December 18 (kick-off 7.45pm).

Buxton’s clash with Alfreton Town at The Impact Arena was called off hours later, at around 6.30pm. No new date has yet been announced for the fixture.

The draw has now been made for the quarter-finals of the competition, which sees the winner of the Borrowash Victoria v New Mills tie visiting either Gresley FC or Matlock Town, whose third round tie also fell foul of the weather.

Glossop North End or Mickleover Royals will entertain either Buxton or Alfreton in the last eight.
