MIDLANDS Regional Alliance clubs returned to action on Saturday for the new season with the teams conjuring up plenty of entertaining encounters.

In the Premier Division, Cromford FC were on the wrong end of a 4-0 defeat at Allenton United while Ashover FC lost 2-1 at home to Holbrook St Michaels. Ben Bartram scored for the home side.

The game between Chellaston and Matlock Sports produced a goal every five minutes in the first half with Matlock going into a two-goal lead before Chellaston came back to win the game 6-2.

Also in the Premier Division, Rowsley 86 FC lost 3-2 at Willington FC.

Both Wirksworth teams in Division Two ended up losing. The Town Reserves went down 2-1 to Hilton Harriers while the Ivanhoe lost 3-1 to Melbourne Dynamo Reserves. Jack Hickton scored for the Ivanhoe.
