Albion took the lead with 12 minutes gone when a smart move involving Jack Higton and Toby Howard played the ball through to Rob Inckle who was upended in the area to earn his side a penalty.

Rhys Kinder stepped up to take the spot kick, only to see his effort palmed away by Lane keeper Richard Wood, but he reacted quickly to dispatch the loose ball high into the roof of the net.

As the half progressed, both sides carved out opportunities, Kyle Trask forcing a super one-handed save from Albion keeper Joe Kay, while for the visitors Adrian Kershaw and Craig Spencer both went close.

The home side equalised in the dying minutes of the half, when Lee Harrison’s sweetly struck volley flew into the top corner giving the keeper absolutely no chance.

The second half began with the visitors being the more threatening and they regained the lead on 14 minutes when Martin Dance and Jack Higton combined to play Toby Howard in on goal and he forced his shot home from close range.

With 30 minutes gone, Lane pulled level again when Aiden Hart’s delivery into the area was deflected into his own net by an Albion defender.

This result sees Albion crowned as this season’s Premier Division One champions and Field Lane as the runners up.

Congratulations go to the management team of Craig Gascoyne and Rob Inckle and the players and backroom team, who would like to thank Kev and the staff of the Hope And Anchor Public House for their support during the season.

The team is now looking forward to next season and would like to hear from any local businesses or individuals who may be interested in helping or sponsoring the Sunday side in any way.
