Radford returns for the Gladiators

Two more players have signed on the dotted line for Matlock Town as manager Mark Atkins continues to strengthen his squad.

Striker Jordan Thewlis, who impressed in the friendly victory over Retford United on Wednesday, was quickly snapped up by the Gladiators, who wanted to bring him in prior to him joining local rivals Buxton in the summer.

The Bucks released him last month, ironically after signing a former Gladiators striker in Lee Morris from North Ferriby United.

The other signing is well-known to Matlock fans and strengthens their defence. Oscar Radford had a spell on loan with the Gladiators last season and quickly won over the fans with a string of excellent performances at both left back and in central defence.

Radford was released by Doncaster Rovers in the summer and joined Kettering Town. But things did not work out for him in Northamptonshire and Atkins made his move.
