RECORD-breaking Matlock Town striker Ross Hannah has signed for League Two side Bradford City.
The 25-year-old, who ended his time with the Gladiators by scoring a hat-trick to break Bobby Mountain’s record for the most Matlock goals in a season, had been tracked by a number of league clubs in recent months.
Hannah, who joined Matlock from Belper Town in 2008, had been considering the offer of a new contract from the Gladiators but has instead opted to try his luck in the Football League with Peter Jackson’s side.
Only last Friday, Hannah, who notched an incredible 52 goals in what proved to be his final season for the club, smashing Bobby Mountain’s 29-year record in the process, won the Fans’ Player of the Year award, Top Goalscorer award, and also retained his Evo-Stik League Golden Boot award at the club’s annual presentation night and was warmly saluted by the fans present at the occasion.
Hannah, who was out of contract at the Reynolds Stadium, watched from the stands in last Saturday’s 5-1 defeat for Bradford City at home to Crewe Alexandra and has signed a one-year deal to take him to Bradford, with a clause allowing the Bantams to extend it by another year should they wish to do so at any time during the 2011-2012 campaign.
