Rowsley’s unbeaten start finally ended

Willington 3

Rowsley 86 0

Following what can only be described as a perfect start to the MRA season, Rowsley 86 were finally beaten last weekend, away at Willington.

On a hot Saturday afternoon away at Willington, Rowsley were simply not at the races. Before they could even get a foothold in the game, they found themselves 3–0 down with only 15 minutes on the clock.

Willington capitalised on slack play all over the pitch, taking advantage of the slope with high direct play. 3–0 down did awaken Rowsley for the rest of the game and, on another day, they could have come back up the A38 with something from the game but missed chances, along with fine defensive blocking and goalkeeping from Willington, ultimately meant it was Rowsley’s first defeat in nine games.
