MATLOCK Sports defied their relatively lowly position in the Midlands Regional Alliance Premier Division table on Saturday by beating in-form Swanwick Pentrich Road 5-3 in the third round of the Challenge Cup.

Robbie Eaton (two), Lee Boden, Grant Boden and Thomas Evans were on the scoresheet for Sports.

Rowsley 86 are through to the next round after a 2-1 win over Wirksworth Ivanhoe. Aaron O’Neill and Nick Baker scored for Rowsley.

Wirksworth Town also progressed with a 2-0 win away at Melbourne Dynamo Reserves.

More or less true to form was Cromford’s 4-1 win over Holbrook St Michael’s.

Danny Wildgoose (two), Craig Gascoigne and Andrew Kershaw hit the Cromford goals.

Back to league action, Ambergate had a hat-trick hero in their Division Two match against Roe Farm, beating them 4-0. Craig Tipton scored the treble and Mark Randall hit the other goal.

Meanwhile, Chris Henson notched the goal for Wirksworth Town Reserves as they lost 2-1 to Little Eaton Reserves.
