TANSLEY found their shooting boots on a very cold and blustery morning on Saturday at Cavendish Fields.

Tansley kicked off the first half playing into the wind, both teams beginning the game with good pace and determination, but the windy conditions started to dictate the game for both sides.

Tansley struggled to create chances during the first half, although they spent long periods camped out in Darley’s half of the pitch.

Darley pressured well at times during the first half, forcing Tansley to concede four corners but the Tansley defence of Max Maycock and Lloyd stood up to the challenge and dealt well with the well-worked attacks from Darley.

The midfield, made up of Spencer Whittle and Toby Gill, worked hard yet, despite their best efforts, the first half came to an end with Darley failing to use their advantage.

The second half kicked off with Tansley determined to make use of the wind advantage.

They started well with James Wilmot, Jack Davies and James Tozzer pressing the Darley defence.

The first opening came shortly after with James Wilmot slotting home. Minutes later, the second for Tansley and, for James Wilmot, came after a well-worked move.

Tansley continued to pile the pressure on the Darley defence and the reward was a goal for Tansley’s Declan Gregory. Darley Dale were continuing to give 100 per cent but struggled to clear their lines in the windy conditions and goal number four for Tansley came with Declan Gregory stroking the ball home from just inside the box after great work from James Wilmot.

The game continued to slip away from Darley as Tansley were awarded a free-kick which was dispatched with confidence by Angel Bowering, taking the score to 5-0.

The game was already wrapped up but Declan Gregory added the final blow with a crisp strike to claim his hat-trick and his 20th of the season.
