Too little too late for Town

Derby Singh Brothers 3

Ripley Town 1

dEspite travelling to Derby with five players unavailable for this Midlands Regional Alliance fixture, Ripley will feel they should have returned home with something, having dominated the game for large parts.

After going behind on 25 minutes, Ripley hit the post with a fierce shot from Liam Brown and both Steve Bayliss and Kenny Birks hit the bar.

Town continued to create chances but couldn’t convert them and, in a crazy five-minute spell, conceded twice to face an uphill battle.

However, the visitors continued to press forward and again the woodwork came to the derby side’s rescue and chances went begging before Ross Layton pulled a goal back, but this was too little too late.

This was a damaging result for Ripley’s faint promotion hopes.

This Saturday, they host Little Eaton, kicking off at 3pm.
