Wanderers stand firm against league leaders

Wirksworth Wanderers u9s 1

ADASC u9s 1

A MINUTE’S silence was observed before this fixture got under way.

ADASC, who top the table, played fast flowing football and soon called upon both Wanderers keeper Lewis Potts to make a fine reaction save, and defender Josh Henshaw to clear from the box, following a goalline scramble.

ADASC kept up the pressure and were rewarded when, shortly before half-time, Kian Parker hit the ball into the top of the net to give his side a 1-0 half-time lead.

After the half-time team talk, it was Wanderers who came out the stronger team, putting pressure on their opponents, which resulted in a great shot from Wanderers striker Tom Wain which was tipped over the bar.

However, Wain would not be denied for long and his next effort levelled the match.

Wanderers’ defender Sam Roberts had an excellent second half, making some good strong tackles really count, and along with Henshaw, provided a shield for keeper Potts from a lively ADASC side.

Liam Bednall, Dan Charlton, Harrison Surgey and Finn Everest all put in 100 per cent effort in what was a pacy game of football between two well-organised teams.
