THREE athletes from High Peak Triathlon Club were in action at last weekend’s Rother Valley Festival - with one progressing to compete for Great Britain.
Ten-year-old Kirsten Dick raced in the under-12 girls open water triathlon.
Having swum well and overtaken many opponents in the process, she then powered her heavy mountain bike past more racers on their road bikes, before running impressively to finish in fifth spot after a stunning race.
On Sunday, it was David Risebrow and Nicky Dick who were in action in the adult events.
David swam well and had a very fast cycling leg despite at one point losing his chain, and finished with a strong run to come 14th out of 42 in his age group.
Nicky (pictured left) also swam well, battled the hilly bike ride and finished with an excellent run to win a place in the Great Britain team for next year’s European Championships being held in Israel.
