THERE was more action in the Sheaf Sports Yorkshire & Derbyshire Cricket League than in previous weeks on Saturday, as the bad weather relented a little.
In Division One, Calver were restricted to 134-6, Stocksbridge going on to win by four wickets, which cements their place on top of the division. The alliterative games between Hathersage and Holmesfield and Hundall v Hollinsend Methodist were both rained off.
In Division Two, Apperknowle scored 142, then bowled out Ashford in the Water for 94. Apperknowle are now opening up a gap at the top, particularly as nearest rivals Sheffield Civil Service’s game at Bakewell was cancelled.
Grindleford now claim second spot after making 99 against Ridgeway, who were skittled for 70.
In the basement battle, Baslow amassed 254 and then routed Dronfield Woodhouse for just 63.
In Division Four, Walkley piled on the woes for bottom side Youlgrave Lodge. Phillip Siddall scored 61 in the visitors 152-9 despite 4-47 from Ricky Podmore and 4-41 from Paul Williams. The Lodge were skittled for 85.
Baslow II hold top spot in Division Five. Nick Gorman scored 81 in 104 all out and then saw teammate Paul Henstock take 8-31 to dismiss Hathersage II for just 69.
Will Knifton-Smith knocked up 111 out of Ashford in the Water II’s 204. Chesterfield Barbarians III could only reach 67-7 in reply.
