MEMBERS of Matlock-based Jesters Mixed Martial Arts Club travelled to Wigston, Leicestershire, on Sunday, January 23, for the WTKA English Open Championships.

It was a successful trip as three of the club’s students bringing home two English titles.

Highfields students Emma Erskine, (16), won the gold while Joe Firth, (16), secured silver and 16-year-old Dal Abu Baker did well at his first major competiton before being knocked out of the competition in the qualifying first rounds.

Joe and Emma were chosen to represent their country in the WTKA World Championships, to be held in Pisa, Italy, in October 2011.

All Jesters MMA Club students have worked extremely hard and to be given the chance and honour of representing their country.

If anyone is interested in training for competitive level or just to keep fit, the club has a full timetable of martial arts to suit everyone’s needs.
