TWO FOOTBALLERS from New Mills School have received county call-ups.

Max Ramwell and Deren Bozkurt have been selected to represent Derbyshire Schools Under-15s.

Following their success in the High Peak Football League, the pair, who also play together for New Mills Juniors, were nominated by the school’s PE Department to attend the three-day trial at Lea Green along with 80 of the county’s most talented footballers.

And after impressing the selectors, Ramwell and Bozkurt will now play for the county team for the remainder of the season, looking to build on their successes in their respective teams to date.

Jesse Elms, New Mills School Headmaster, said: “This is a considerable achievement for a school of our size and we are sure they will do us proud.

“It has been 12 years since any footballers represented Derbyshire from New Mills School.”
