Mark Footitt has signed a new two-year contract committing him to Derbyshire until the end of the 2015 season.
The left-arm fast-bowler has enjoyed the best season of his career in 2013 and will now focus on fulfilling his promise in the colours of Derbyshire.
Footitt signed for the club ahead of the 2010 campaign and has since taken 91 first-class wickets at a shade over 31 with three five-wicket hauls.
His 2013 campaign has included a career-best haul of over 40 first-class wicket and a further 15 dismissals in the limited-overs forms of the game.
His figures of 6-53 against champions Durham and 5-28 against Scotland were career-best performances in First Class and List A cricket respectively.
The 27-year-old also shook up touring New Zealand earlier in the summer with match figures of 6-84 and bowled Derbyshire to victory with a second innings performance of 4-65 against Middlesex.
Head coach Karl Krikken said: “Mark has been a tremendous contributor to our bowling unit in 2013. It’s been the best season of his career by far.
“We’re in it for the long haul at Derbyshire and keeping our top performing players in the face of interest from other counties is a demonstration of our ambition.
“When he’s on-song, Mark adds something different to the bowling unit because he’s left-arm and consistently up around 90 miles-per-hour.”
“The challenge for him is to stay focussed, to perform well again next season and to become as good a bowler as we know he can be.”
