The annual Sam Broatch Memorial Cup charity football match will take place at Matlock Town’s Reynolds Stadium on Saturday, with a 2pm kick-off.
A match takes place every year to remember Sam, who tragically lost his life in an accident in 2000 while travelling abroad.
This year’s game will be between a Matlock XI and the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA), with monies raised being donated towards the Sam Broatch Sports Trust Fund and the SSAFA.
The Sam Broatch Sports Trust Fund is a non-profit organisation set up to aid local youngsters, sports clubs and sporting associations with donations or equipment in and around the Matlock area.
The Trust fund has been used for numerous purposes including donating hockey goals, sponsoring junior football teams and funding a local kickboxing gym.
Matlock Town have donated their facilities for free, with entry being per raffle ticket purchased on the day or leading up to the match.
The raffle will see a host of prizes on offer including an iPad 2, Blackberry Playbook tablet and much more.
Spectators who go along to the match will also be able to make use of the Matlock Town Social Club and bar facilities which will be open all day.
