High Peak veteran Alec Horn posted a terrific finish of eighth place in the World Age Group Triathlon Championships in London last Friday.

The 71-year old finished the course in an overall time of 1 hour, 33 minutes and 20 seconds.

His time was just over four minutes behind the eventual winner Michael Wood.

The American finished in 1 hour, 29 minutes and 0 seconds to seal the gold medal in the 70-74 age category.

Despite Alec finishing low down the pecking order in T1 (swim) and T2 (bike), he went on to claim first place in T3 (run) with a time of 22 minutes, 19 seconds - over 30 seconds clear of second place.

Alec, from Castleton, finished as the third highest-placed Brit in his age category.
