This week has again shown some interesting conditions for fishing with quite a few windy days at Carsington Fishery.
This hasn’t stopped many anglers and their tenacity has paid off with very few blanking. The conditions have meant a slight change in the fishing methods as less fish are being caught on buzzers and more catches on lures.
The rod average for last week was 7.0 with 632 fish caught by 91 anglers. The best rainbow of 4lb 4oz was caught by E Caley using a damsel. The best brown of the week was by A Baggaley, weighing 2lb 8oz using a small black lure.
It has been interesting to see how the fishery’s rod average has performed against other local waters
A lot of the fish have been sheltering around the features of the reservoir this week. Popular catch areas have been Tower Bank, North Island, Millfields and especially Upperfields Bay and Shiningford Creek.
There has been a real mixture of sinking and floating lines used with the usual black and green patterns of Montana, some buzzers and crunchers. There have also been orange blobs, tadpoles and cats whiskers have been the chosen lures for the week.
As the evenings are staying lighter for longer, fishing in the evening is now available. Permits for evening fishing can be purchased from 5pm but please remember the reception closes at 6pm. Unfortunately, Carsington Fishery isn’t able to take bookings for evening boats but you can always ring to make sure that there are boats available to save a wasted journey.
All boats are back to the jetty by 8.30pm. Please allow a few minutes to return from your fishing spot.
Please also note that Carsington is a boat fishing water only. It is advisable that boat bookings are made in advance to avoid disappointment. Discounts are available for bookings of five or more boats.
Bookings can be taken by telephone on 01629 540478 or via email at email@example.com
