Colin Davenport received his first Christmas present when winning the second monthly 10k time trial staged by Matlock Athletics Club.
Of 16 club runners who tackled the course to and from Whitworth, Davenport clocked the best time of 36.42 minutes to take ownership of the 10k cap over the festive season until the next race in January.
The results are graded on age performance, and Peter Wilmot took second place with 41.35, while third went to lady veteran Tessa Brough with a time of 57.02.
Other positions were: Andy Lessiter 40.57, Sian Mead 49.55, Dennis Holmes 44.14, Greg Woodward 43.12, Craig Allen 41.49, Martin Lea 45.56, Andy Neath 47.05, Peter Bush 49.01, Steve Mead 51.30, Neil Webster 48.33, Dan Ashcroft 46.08, Mark Jackson 53.40 and Gareth Ferguson 53.46.
The club held its annual general meeting after the time trial, with Craig Allen elected the new chairman and lady captain Alison Pye elected to join the committee. Other notable performances by Matlock AC runners this week included Christine Howard finising second in the lady veteran 45 category at the Famous Grouse Fell Race.
This Sunday, the clubs hosts the third of five races in the Booths Decorators Cross-Country League at the Bakewell Showground.
