Club looks to exciting future

With varying dates being rumoured as to when Matlock’s new super pool will be opened, new interest and players continue to seek out Matlock Water Polo Club.

Wednesday night’s training session saw two new players come and try the game with a third expressing great keenness to attend the next session.

Former player Sam Pyne also contacted the coaching personnel on Sunday and is believed to be planning a comeback, having now finished university.

More players are very much welcome as the club intends to increasingly promote local schools’ water polo in the next few months. Early August to mid-September have been suggested as opening dates. With training for the Datronics scoreboard being planned for staff and officials as part of the introduction, these are indeed exciting times.

Wealthy club chairman Dave Frost however, does not want to be overlooked in his wishes.

“Whelan at Wigan and that Abramovich youth at Chelsea have executive boxes at their home grounds so they can watch the game in comfort and have no players able to leer over their respective women companions. I want the same!” Glamorous wife Ann was reported to have made no such request whatsoever, at the time of going to press.
