There is genuine expectation in table tennis circles as Cromford do their upmost to satisfy the craving for the game during the summer break.

The muted sense of unease at the thought of ten weeks without table tennis has given way to the uplifting and genuinely sociable Cromford Summer League.

This competition will begin on June 20, will take in the next 12 weeks and will quite comfortably satisfy appetites before competitions start again in October.

Everyone will be watching to see if the 14 teams involved will be able to live up to the previous season’s excitement but you can easily see it happening.

Quality players have agreed to take part and that is what should matter most. We will be reporting on the events and surprises of this competition through the next few weeks.

A few dates for members to remember are:

n AGM at the Whitworth Academy, June 14, at 7.45pm

n The Blair Cup final, now being held at Turnditch on June 22

n Junior Draw Doubles at the Whitworth Academy on June 22

n Presentation Evening at the Cromford Community Centre on June 23 at 7.30pm.
