The annual White Lion Boules Competition took place in Starkholmes on Saturday.

Once again, this pairs competition was well supported with many local teams competing for the White Lion Cup with first round losers automatically going into the Pete Young Plate competition.

The prayers were answered with a wonderful dry, warm day with good ale on tap and a fine atmosphere.

The eventual winners of the White Lion Cup were Dave Bartlett and Kevin Stone with the runners up being Tim Bown-Brownridge and Ben Wagstaff.

The Pete Young Plate was presented by his son Ben to the winners Jack and Colin Dunne, with Martin and Shirley Pheasant as runners-up.

Each year a donation is made to a charity and this year it will be going to the Air Ambulance.

Organisers would like to issue thanks to all helpers, supporters and competitors on the day for making it such a wonderful event.
