Joseph Whitaker School’s Year 7 boys’ rugby team, became Nottinghamshire county champions after beating West Bridgford 15-0 in the final of the competition.

The boys have won every single Newark and Sherwood Tournament this year, and in a very high quality match, proved in the final why they deserve to be the best in the county.

Andy Jacques, teacher of boys’ rugby, said: ‘It’s fantastic that at such a young age, and only starting at the school in September, these boys have created such a successful team and are playing great rubgy.

“They thoroughly deserve their champions status and who knows where they could go from here?”
