ATHLETES braved the conditions to compete in the Ashbourne Duathlon, held at Carsington Water on Saturday.
The weather was cold and very blustery, which would have affected the bike times.
The first 12K run follows the reservoir perimeter. The 40K bike route then takes in some steep ascents and descents, including the climb up through Middleton, down Nimble Jack to the Via Gellia, then up to Hollybush Inn and Longcliffe. The second run was along the dam wall and back.
Four Matlock Athletic Club members participated with Christine Howard (1st LV40) recording a time of 2.46.03,
Jan Forrester (1st LV60) 3.05.28, Dave Riddings 2.43.33 and Robin Eyre 3.29.51.
