The weather has been really kind at Carsington Fishery giving some of the best days for fishing this past week.
The moderately warm, calm conditions have seen the rod average remain similar to last week and it has been great to see all boats out for many of the days.
The fishery has also announced that the last day of fishing at Carsington will be Sunday, November 6, which is a number of weeks later than last season.
It will be a great opportunity to see how the water will fish into November and will help to reduce the length of the close season before opening the new season in March 2012.
The rod average for last week was 4.7 with 238 fish caught by 51 anglers.
The best rainbow of the week was caught by Mr Harding it weighed 3lb 12oz and was caught on a blob. Mr Scragg caught our best brown of 3lbs 4oz.
There have also been a few blues caught and many other rainbows of over 3lbs.
The top spots have been on the west side of the reservoir behind Stones Island, under the shelter of the dam wall and Millfields bay.
A variety of flies have had catches this week including vivas, buzzers, hot head damsel, green montanna, cats whiskers and orange blobs. Anglers have been using floating and intermediate lines.
Please remember that only trout are allowed to be landed on the boats as no coarse fishing is permitted.
Boats can leave the jetty from 8.30am. All boats are back to the jetty by 5.30pm. Please allow a few minutes to return from your fishing spot
Please note that Carsington is a boat fishing water only. It is advisable that boat bookings are made in advance to avoid disappointment. Discounts are available for bookings of 5 or more boats.
