The variable weather conditions prevailed again at Matlock Golf Club but at least some competitive action was able to take place.

In the inter-club matches, the ladies Bronze team played Stanedge at home, winning 4.5-0.5.

The Captain’s Team played Alfreton away, unfortunately losing 4-2.

In the Thursday ‘turn up and play’ stableford competition, the winners were; Division 1 Ben Edgson 42 pts, Division 2 Mike Block 39 pts, 55+ Yellow Tees Geoffrey Leivers 38 pts.

With fine weather on Sunday, the popular Men’s Open Am–Am competition took place with 47 teams participating in the competition.

Many visitors from as far away as Worcestershire, took the opportunity to play the course, which, thanks to great work from the greens’ staff, continues to be in excellent condition irrespective of the unusual high summer rainfall.

Overall winners of the competition, with an excellent 91 pts, were a team with three members from Leicester Humberstone Heights Golf Club.

Just pipped into runner–up spot with 90 pts was a Matlock Golf Club members’ team.

This was made up of brothers Nick and Tim Russell, plus Craig Barnes and Ryan Hawley.
