Invitation Days have been held for both the gentlemen and ladies at Matlock Golf Club.

The ladies held theirs on Tuesday with 36 ladies participating under mixed weather conditions.

Winners, with 39 points, were Cynthia Machent and guest Pauline Bramley from Hallamshire Golf Club. Runners-up, with 38 points, were Pat McGivern and guest Carol Swan from Mickleover Golf Club.

Nearest the pin was Pauline Bramley for the guests on the tenth hole and Pamela Hedley for the members on the fourth hole. A good meal was enjoyed by all participants in the clubhouse afterwards.

The gents held theirs on Sunday with summery conditions except for yet another shower at lunchtime. The course was fully booked from 8am to 4.30pm and, with the course in excellent condition despite the recent heavy rain, the scoring was good.

Winners with 45 points were Steve Bradley and guest Peter Gould from Alfreton Golf Club. Runners-up, also with 43 points, were Mark Walker and guest Dominic Claxton from Stanedge Golf Club. Third place with 42 points was Andy Bins and guest Paul Mellor from Shirland Golf Club.

Meanwhile, the Midweek Medal Nine winners were: Division One Keith Carl 72 (5) 67, Division Two David Lathwood 79 (11) 68, Division Three Christopher Newton 83 (16) 67, Division Four Roy Parkes 100 (27) 73.
