The last race in the Booths Decorators League Series of five races saw agood turnout of Matlock runners taking on the 5.1 mile course at Shipley Hall CC.
The winner was Joe Rainsford, of Heanor RC, in 27.52 and first lady was Louise Insley, also of Heanor, in 32.51.
First Matlock Athletic Clubrunner home was Matt Haywood in 47th place in 33.29, Peter Wilmot 34.10, Chris Hallas 35.34, Anthony Marchington 3rd MV55, 35.46, Simon Flitter 36.59, Dan Ashcroft 37.33, Mick Moorhouse 2nd MV60, 38.37.
Alison Pye was first MAC lady home in 38.39, followed by Katie Haywood in 40.13.
Lillian Phillips gave a great performance as first girl in 42.34. Andrea Priestley 43.19, Molly Gorman 44.03, Rosie Croft 47.33, Laurie Croft 48.11 and Emma Phillips 49.03.
This was the first season in this event and, after the five races, Matlock finished eighth out of 12 teams in the men, ladies and combined standings.
Matlock’s Ian Phillips won the recent Parwich Panoramic 5 (8.5k/200m) in 33.51.
Other MAC results: Lewis Gibbs 39.18, Darran Nuttall 49.29, Clive Russell 51.05 and Ian Gibbs 53.55. Diane Lee was first lady home in 39.44.
On Saturday 8th August the monthly Whitworth Thread 5k took place in hot conditions with 125 runners taking part, with Mark Johnson, British 5k Champion set a new course record of 16.54.
After Johnson, came Matlock’s Colin Davenport 18.13, then David Joynes 18.26, Matlock’s Craig Allen 18.35 and Peter Wilmot 20.04 in fifth.
First Matlock lady back was Michaela Dick in 21.53 (J13).
First male J13 was Matlock’s Joseph Currie in 20.17 and there were also great runs in that category from Matlock’s Oscar Cousins 21.01 and Eddie Unsworth.
