Rohan Aked Slack of Matlock Boxing Club has recently gained his National Level One Coaching qualification.

He attended a four-day course organised and sanctioned by the Amateur Boxing Association.

The course included modules on technique, fitness training methods, cornering requirements and more. It also gave coaches from different clubs an opportunity to work together and share ideas.

This is a major step for the newly-formed Matlock Boxing Club which hopes to have some of its members on the competitive circuit in the near future.

The club also recently attended Highfields School in Matlock to give coaching sessions to the students as part of the school’s preparation for the Olympics.

The club, which holds training sessions on Wednesday (adults) and Friday (juniors) evenings, is based at Jesters MMA Club’s gym at the rear of John Hadfield House, Dale Road, Matlock. Anyone interested in attending should contact 07825 876177.
