Two-goal Webber stars on debut as run continues

Matlock Baileans 4ths extended their winning streak with a 3-0 win at Buxton Ladies 2nds, including two goals by man-of-the-match debutant Caitlin Webber.

Despite a much-changed team, Matlock started brightly and forced Buxton’s in-form keeper to make good saves.

It took until midway through the half for Matlock to capitalise on their good start when youngster Webber scored.

Buxton then had their best period of the game and created a couple of chances that were confidently dealt with by Matlock keeper Frankie Rouse.

Janice Bush in midfield then started dictating play, creating many chances for the Matlock forwards with Webber snapping up her second goal just before half-time.

Matlock dominated the second half but, despite playing a good passing game, they found ot difficult to break through a packed Buxton defence.

Nat Saunders completed the scoring, following in a rebound.
