Ashford in the Water beat Darley Dale by 38 runs
Ashford finished the bridesmaids in the Longstone League for the second year running.
The home side elected to bat first but were soon in trouble with Dave Briggs (1-32) and Matthew Wright (1-8) reducing Ashford to 12-2.
But although Wright tied up one end, runs flowed from the other as Simon Davies (52) and Julian Henson (50 not out) put on a partnership of 102.
Jacob Hartley (1-18) finally broke the partnership, but the total of 115 looked sufficient.
The visitors’ wickets tumbled regularly. Jamie Carrington (3-8) was again imposing and Peter Marsden (1-8) luckless in his equally impressive spell. Only Andrew Paulett (29) managed double-figures, but once he was trapped LBW by in-form Kevn Rowney (5-22) Darley petered out to a disappointing 77.
Ashford must now wait to see who they host for the semi-final playoff of the Longstone League Shield on July 16.
Baslow 1st lost to Ashford in the Water by six wickets
Ashford took full advantage by winning the only match completed in the top two divisions on Saturday.
Asking their hosts to bat on a wet wicket, Ashford soon had Baslow in disarray as Joe Muir (3-31) struck early. Some expansive strokeplay kept the score moving, but Kevn Rowney (4-15) soon put the brakes on to reduce Baslow to 49-3, all caught at short leg by Julian Henson.
The hosts then lost a further three wickets on 52 as Phil Price (2-20) took advantage. The Baslow innings ended tamely on 104.
The visitors pressed on and Paul Carrington recovered his early-season form to stroke an impressive half-century. Peter Marsden (15 not out) steered his team home to ensure maximum points for Ashford. Ashford are now fourth again.
