Darley Dale 2nds 169-9 lost to Ashover 173-0 by ten wickets
Darley Dale’s seconds travelled to Ashover in a Division 7N Derbyshire County League fixture.
On a sunny mid-afternoon, Darley won the toss and unusually batted first on a very flat pitch. Openers Shaw (31) and Topley (23) gave them a good start but both fell just when they had started to dominate. Hartley compiled 46, including seven boundaries, while some lusty blows from Hurst (27) and Marsden (16) allowed Darley to finish on 169-9.
In reply, Ashover’s openers gave a fine display of batting with Allingworth (64 not out) and Dent (100 not out) putting Darley’s bowlers under immense pressure as Ashover went on to win by ten wickets. Darley now look forward to Mugginton at home this weekend.

Darley Dale 138-1 beat Grindleford 130-9 by 9 wickets
Darley Dale travelled to Grindleford on a dark and cold Monday evening to play their third fixture in as many days and elected to bat on a damp wicket. Openers Parks (87) and Hartley (37) put on 122 in a magnificent partnership. Both played with incredible confidence and unveiled some elegant and fine looking shots.
In reply, Horton struck early but Brown (37) and Smith (32) began to play big shots and were keeping up with the run rate. The introduction of Jamie Watts won the game as he bowled with excellent pace and dismissed big hitting Brown with a splendid yorker.
Watts finished with four wickets and was supported by Holmes, who took three key wickets. Darley now face Calver and will hope to get to the final at Bakewell on July 1.
