Six of Derbyshire’s brightest young prospects have agreed new deals with the county.
England Under-19s all-rounder Peter Burgoyne has signed a new three-year contract, while fellow all-round prospect Alex Hughes will transfer from a summer contract to a three-year full-time professional contract from October 1 next year following the completion of his studies.
Burgoyne, 18, has eight career List A and four Twenty20 matches to his credit and hit a maiden unbeaten century for the 2nd XI versus MCC Universities in August.
Hughes, 21, has played seven List A and four Twenty20 matches for Derbyshire and hit a vital unbeaten 37 to guide the Falcons to victory over Yorkshire Carnegie at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield, in July.
Alasdair Evans has signed for one more year, Ben Slater and Matt Higginbottom have been handed enhanced summer contracts and Johny Marsden has earned a summer contract for the first time.
