Midlands Regional Alliance

The battle for top spot in the Midlands Regional Alliance remains exceptionally tight after wins for both Rowsley ’86 and Willington saw the two sides stay level on 28 points.

Two goals each from Tim Baker and Anthony Charlton, plus goals from Sam Hoskin and Aaron O’Neill, saw leaders Rowsley ease past Little Eaton.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, a Scott Spencer hat-trick earned Cromford a 3-0 win at Wirksworth Town.

The only match in Division One went the way of the form book, with goals from Jack Higton and Vincent Kinder earning Wirksworth Ivanhoe a 2-0 win at basement side Bargate Rovers, returning them to top spot in the process.

Stapleford Town remain top of Division Two, but it was a close match against Matlock Town CFA with the leaders eventually winning 2-1 thanks to goals from Shaun Shepherd and Paul Woodmore.

For many sides it was Junior Cup week, with the biggest win coming in the match between Ambergate Reserves and Shardlow St James.

Goals from Liam Slater (3), Chris Beighton (2), Adam Martin, James Oldham, and Dion Roe saw the Saints progress after an 8-1 win.

The day wasn’t much better for Ambergate’s first team as they lost 6-0 to Melbourne Dynamo Reserves.

Rowsley ’86 Reserves beat Little Eaton Reserves 5-0 with Anthony Porter scoring four and Ben Harrison netting the other.

The remaining Junior Cup tie ended in a nine-goal thriller.

Jamie Alberts (2), Scott Webster (2) and Jamie Hudson were on target for Woolley Moor United Reserves, but with visitors Wirksworth Town Reserves netting four goals of their own it left the visitors having to cling on for a place in the next round.
