THE rain over the last week meant that Derbyshire’s most recent two games failed to go the distance.
In the LV County Championship, they were looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the season against Gloucestershire by taking on Leicestershire.
A Tony Palladino hat-trick and five wickets for Tim Groenewald helped dismiss Leicestershire for 177 and Derbyshire had reached 259-5 when the weather intervened. Dan Redfern was left unbeaten on 81 and the draw means Derbyshire are still top.
Groenewald then took 3-30 from his eight overs to leave Sussex precariously placed on 111-5 in the Clydesdale Bank 40 game at Horsham but the rain then put paid to any chance of a result.
