Woodthorpe jumped to the top of the Matlock & District Football League as they knocked Tibshelf for six in the only league clash in another weekend decimated by snow and rain.

It was a hat-trick for Mark White and strikes from Ben Goodwin, Aaron Large and Gary Siddall that gave the visiting Rovers all three points in a 6-0 thrashing, the first League encounter for seven weeks.

County cup action saw Shirland Miners Welfare duck out of the Derbyshire Junior Cup North to the Nags Head (Chesterfield) in a 3-1 defeat with the only goal for Shirland coming from Steven Boot.

Hilcote United were on the wrong end of a 4-3 scoreline in their Notts Minor Cup third round clash on the road against BFC Birches. Hilcote’s goals came from David Gibson (2) and Mark Butler.
